Lusto and Metsähallitus carried out the Metsähallitus History Project between 1999 and 2000. During the project, material related to the history of Metsähallitus, including 17,000 photos, was collected and preserved.
The cooperation with Metsähallitus is now being continued through cataloguing and digitising the material. The objective of the digitising project concerning the old photos of Metsähallitus is to catalogue and enter a significant proportion of the photos associated with the history of forest management into the Kantapuu data base, thus making them generally available. The topics of the photos are related to silviculture, forestry work, education, the construction of roads and log floating channels, and conservation areas.
