The interview material collected by the Finnish Forest History Society concerning forest professionals has been placed in the files of Lusto, the Finnish forest museum in Punkaharju. There are restrictions on using the material. The material is meant only for scientific purposes and a written agreement must be made with Lusto in order to use it. Lists including personal information can only be seen by the people who have obtained the right to use it. Research permission that allows the use of material will be granted by Hanna Snellman, Ph.D., docent, the researcher responsible for the project, together with the Metsämiesten Säätiö foundation representative up until 31.5.2007, and thereafter by Lusto.

Both the purpose of use and terms of conditions for using the material will be defined in the agreement, the meaning of which, above all, is to protect the interviewees’ anonymity. The material can be cited and summarised in research work, but the names of people who appear in it or have given information, cannot be published. Current legislation must be considered when using the material, particularly regulations of enacted law on the publication of general documents, copyright and personal register legislation. Ultimately, the user of the material is responsible for any consequences arising from publication.

It is possible with permission for researchers to obtain copies in cases where copying is possible (regarding data security and other legislation) without harming the material. The copies cannot be used for any other purpose than what they have been acquired for. The copies cannot be given out or further copied elsewhere i.e. to file, organisations or private individuals. In addition, the copies must be returned after use unless otherwise agreed.

The source must be credited when using the material: Lusto – the Finnish forest museum, the Finnish Forest History Society project “Forest professionals during forestry’s transition 1999-2002” (MHS, Mepe) and the material’s reference number A02001. The user is responsible for providing to Lusto free of charge, one copy of the publication or research in which the material has been used.
