The exhibitions, workshops, shows in the auditorium and outdoor activities at Lusto, as well as the forest-themed places of interest in the vicinity – the Punkaharju Conservation Area and the Research Park and Arboretum of the Finnish Forest Research Institute – offer diverse opportunities for study visits and school trips, and can also be included as part of the programme of a school camp.

A visit to Lusto opens up a wide range of perspectives on the forest. Forests and wood are in some way connected with virtually all school subjects as well as with our daily lives – sometimes in surprising ways!

Learning by doing

Lusto organizes different types of work shops for schoolchildren. The aim is to cooperate with schools and give information on nature and forestry.

The work shops are built on different subjects, depending on the ongoing exhibitions in Lusto. The children will have a possibility to see, do, experience and learn together. In the work shops they can practise handicrafts and learn new things about the forest and the Finnish forest culture. The work shops are adjustable and can be adapted to match the specific needs of each group.

The work shops usually run for about 1.5 hours and the maximum size is 25 persons / group. The workshops are included in the ticket price and they are open from 10am to 4pm. Ticket of admission 4 €  / elementary school students. Teacher, personal assistant and driver: free admission.

Please make group reservations at least two weeks prior to the visit. Guided tours and workshops can also be conducted in English.

We are happy to assist you in planning your visit. Brochures and other material can be ordered by phone at +358 (0)15 345 100 or by e-mail at lusto@lusto.fi.
